202 FAMILIES SERVED IN ITS FIRST YEAR

Top Fundraising Teams have rooms dedicated in their name

WHAT:  Celebration of the first anniversary of the Hogs for the Cause Family Center at Children’s Hospital New Orleans and dedication of new Team Rooms. Top Fundraising teams will be honored with rooms in their name at a ceremony and celebration—with barbeque, of course.

“Our most successful fundraising teams host events throughout the year in order to keep the momentum going,” said Rene Louapre, COO & Co-Founder of Hogs for the Cause. “It never ceases to amaze me how dedicated and passionate they are, always focusing on the bigger picture, raising awareness and funding for families in need, with no expectation of anything in return.” Teams that have reached a certain fundraising threshold have earned the privilege of having a room named after them.

“Many of our patients come from areas with limited healthcare resources,” said Children’s Hospital New Orleans. “The Hogs Family Center is a lifeline for those traveling long distances, providing a place for them to stay so they can focus on helping their child heal.” The Hogs for the Cause Family Center served 202 families from 65 cities across Louisiana and Mississippi over the past 365 days. The average length of stay for those families was 3 weeks.

One year ago, Hogs for the Cause opened the renovated 1920s townhouse on the former military hospital campus as a home-away-from-home for families from outside the New Orleans region whose children are in treatment at Children’s Hospital. The house encompasses 13 family suites with private bathrooms, common areas with two family lounges, kitchen spaces, and a laundry room.
